FALL 2026 – PASADENA, MD

Pool Closing Service in Pasadena, MD

Serving Anne Arundel County homeowners since 1969. We'll winterize your pool the right way, before the first hard frost, so it opens clean and trouble-free next spring.

Why Pasadena pool owners close before the frost

A pool left open too long into a Maryland fall is a pool that freezes with water still in the lines, and that's how cracked plumbing, split pumps, and expensive spring surprises happen. The closing window is short, and our calendar fills as soon as the nights turn cold.

Gene Lilly Pools & Spas has been closing pools in Pasadena and across Anne Arundel County since 1969. We know Maryland winters, we know what your equipment can take, and we winterize it to come back clean and ready in the spring.

Pre-payment is required.
All fall pool closings require pre-payment. Payment is due before services are rendered, and your date is confirmed once payment is received.

What's included in every pool closing

Every Gene Lilly pool closing includes all of the following as standard: chemicals included, no surprise add-ons:

  • Evacuate water from plumbing lines
  • Use non-toxic anti-freeze as needed
  • Install customer-supplied winter plugs
  • Remove ladders and handrails (where applicable)
  • Install winter pool cover

Pool Closing FAQ

When should I close my pool in Maryland?

The right window for Anne Arundel County is fall, typically late September through early November, before the first hard frost. Closing before a freeze is what protects your plumbing and equipment over the winter. Our calendar fills fast once the nights turn cold, so book early.

Do you close both above-ground and in-ground pools?

Yes. We close both above-ground and in-ground pools throughout Pasadena and Anne Arundel County, including vinyl liner, concrete, and fiberglass. Pricing for in-ground closings and above-ground closings is listed on this page. Both include the full standard service checklist, with shock and algaecide provided and included in the price.

Do I need to lower my water before you arrive?

Yes. Water levels need to be lowered past the skimmers and tile on all pools except vinyl liner pools, which should not be drained. This must be done by the homeowner before your closing appointment. We do not perform cleaning service as part of a closing.

Do I need to supply winter plugs?

Yes. Closings include installing customer-supplied winter plugs. We evacuate water from the plumbing lines, use non-toxic antifreeze as needed, install your plugs, remove ladders and handrails where applicable, and install your winter cover.

Do you store my filter for the winter?

Yes. For the small fee listed on this page, we'll clean and store your pool filter at our Pasadena store through the winter. This service is invoiced in the spring. Just check the filter storage option on the form and initial the authorization.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Pasadena and communities throughout Anne Arundel County, including Severna Park, Glen Burnie, Annapolis, Arnold, and surrounding areas. Pool opening and closing services are generally within a 15–20-mile radius of our store at 8195 Ritchie Hwy.
